👟💥 MILESTONE IN VALENCIA! The “Valencia Half Marathon” Produces the Best Female Time of the Year and Maculine European Record
Last Sunday, 26 October 2025, the Valencia Half Marathon celebrated its 34th edition, and once again, the capital of the Turia was consolidated as the epicentre of speed in long-distance athletics. The event not only broke its own participation record, but also delivered elite records that rewrite the sporting history books.
Mass Participation and Impact Figures
The 34th edition was the biggest to date, with more than 26,077 finishers completing the distance, exceeding the initial limit of 25,000 bibs. This tide of popular runners filled the flat and fast circuit of the city, from Avinguda dels Tarongers to the finish line.
Ngetich and Almgren: Historic Double Feat
The elite competition witnessed two achievements that had global repercussions:
- Agnes Ngetich and the World Record: Kenya's Agnes Jebet Ngetich took the women's victory with a spectacular time of 1:03:08. This time is set as the World Record of the Year and the third fastest time ever recorded in the history of the half marathon.
- Andreas Almgren and the European Record: Sweden's Andreas Almgren achieved the continental milestone by breaking the 59-minute barrier, setting a new EUROPEAN RECORD with 0:58:41. Almgren becomes the first European to achieve the sub-59 feat, confirming that Valencia is the perfect route for sprinting.
In the men's race, Ethiopia's Yomif Kejelcha retained his title with 0:58:02, just seconds off the world record, in a display of solo power.
Spaniards Carlos Mayo (1:00:46) and Carla Gallardo Puertas (1:09:14) led the national performance, achieving great personal bests.
